A list of companies that stopped advertising on X

In last 24 hours, these groups have stopped advertising on X, per NYT:

- Apple, $AAPL
- Disney, $DIS
- Paramount, $PARA
- Lionsgate
- IBM, $IBM
- Comcast, $CMCSA
- NBC Universal
- The European Commission

Apple is following the lead of advertisers like IBM and the European Commission, which have paused ads on X due to a rise in on-platform antisemitism. According to research from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, X has been ineffective in moderating hate speech on its platform.

Media Matters for America, a left-leaning media watchdog, recently released a report revealing that ads from companies such as Apple, IBM, Bravo, Oracle, and Xfinity have been displayed next to posts praising Nazi ideology.

In an attempt to reassure advertisers, Linda Yaccarino, X’s new CEO and former advertising executive at NBCUniversal, made efforts that, given recent developments, do not appear to be successful.

“X’s point of view has always been very clear that discrimination by everyone should STOP across the board — I think that’s something we can and should all agree on,” she stated on Thursday afternoon. “When it comes to this platform — X has also been extremely clear about our efforts to combat antisemitism and discrimination. There’s no place for it anywhere in the world — it’s ugly and wrong. Full stop.”

X’s advertising business has experienced volatility since Elon Musk took ownership last year. Around a month after assuming control, Musk tweeted that Apple had “mostly stopped advertising on Twitter.” However, after a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook at the company’s Cupertino headquarters, it seemed that some disagreements were resolved.
