Amazon Freezes Partial Hiring for AWS Sending Its Shares Down by 1.7%

Per NYP and NYT

Amazon announced on October 4 that it would freeze hiring for its retail and logistics operations, but now, AWS hiring is part of the freeze.

Amazon Web Services brought over $62 billion in revenue in 2021, and upon the company's announcement that it would stop hiring, Amazon stock fell by over 1.7%.

The company still plans to hire about 150,000 seasonal workers for the year's holiday shopping rush. Candidates with scheduled interviews before October 15 might still receive offers but will not begin working at Amazon until 2023.
