Anthropic's Seven Co-Founders Each Hold Roughly 1.4% of the Company, Worth More Than $13 Billion Each
Anthropic's IPO filing has put a number on one of the fastest fortunes in tech history.
The company's seven co-founders each hold roughly 1.4% of the company, the filing showed, giving them individual fortunes of more than $13 billion, per Bloomberg.
Each co-founder holds roughly 240 million shares, and together the seven own approximately 10% of the company they founded in 2021.
The seven names
The founders are CEO Dario Amodei and his sister Daniela Amodei, the company's president.
The other five are Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Christopher Olah.
All seven left OpenAI to start Anthropic in January 2021.
The stakes vault all seven into the top 300 of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, ahead of well-known finance names like Bill Ackman and Stan Druckenmiller.
The math behind the fortune
The $13 billion figure is based on Anthropic's $965 billion valuation in its last funding round.
At the $58.90 split-adjusted price of that Series H round, each individual stake is worth between $13.7 billion and $14.4 billion.
If Anthropic reaches the roughly $2 trillion valuation Wall Street expects in the IPO, each fortune could more than double, to between $27 billion and $29 billion per founder.
Bloomberg's previous calculation had the founders at $8 billion each, so the filing alone added roughly $5 billion to each estimate.
Control, and a plan to give most of it away
The founders will keep control after the listing. A single Class F share, held by an LLC owned by the seven co-founders, carries 50.1% of the company's voting power and no economic rights.
Each co-founder has also pledged to dedicate 80% of their personal Anthropic equity to philanthropy, though the filing describes those pledges as voluntary and revocable, not legally binding.
The company itself will commit 5% of its total shares to a new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund for charitable donations.
Day-to-day pay is modest by comparison. Dario and Daniela Amodei each drew a base salary of about $655,000 in 2025, with equity awards bringing their total compensation to roughly $18 million and $16.5 million.

What it means for markets
Founder-heavy ownership shapes how a stock trades after an IPO, from float size to index inclusion, and Anthropic's structure is unusually concentrated at the top.
The listing, targeted for the week of November 16 under the ticker ANT, is expected to raise as much as $100 billion, which would make it one of the largest offerings ever attempted.
Anthropic's biggest backers sit outside the founders table. AMZN and GOOGL will hold nonvoting stock, with conversion caps of 12% and 14.99% respectively, and both names are worth watching for flow as the deal prices.
The AI complex more broadly, including MSFT and NVDA, will trade on every Anthropic headline as investors benchmark the private AI leaders against each other.
The bottom line
Seven people who left a rival lab five years ago are now worth more than $13 billion each on paper.
The IPO will decide what that paper is actually worth.
