Anthropic Q3 Revenue Hits $17 Billion as Net Loss Widens to $23.3 Billion
The Q3 Scorecard
Anthropic's third-quarter 2026 results show growth on a scale few companies have ever printed.
Revenue came in at $17.0 billion, up 1,127% from a year ago and 47% from the second quarter.
Below the top line, the picture is mixed. Anthropic posted an operating loss of $567 million, after recording a $974 million operating profit in Q2.
On an adjusted basis, operating income was $2.5 billion, a 15% margin, down from 19% in Q2.
The net loss was $23.3 billion, compared with a $12.1 billion net loss a year ago.
Reading the Loss
Anthropic's bottom-line losses have repeatedly been swollen by non-cash accounting charges tied to financing instruments, including convertible notes whose value rises as the company's own valuation climbs.
Its IPO filing showed a net loss of $80.7 billion through June, of which roughly $72 billion came from those non-cash charges. Excluding them, the first-half loss was closer to $8.7 billion.
Even so, a swing from operating profit to operating loss, and a thinner adjusted margin, gives investors something new to weigh days before the company is expected to price one of the largest IPOs in history.
The IPO Looms
Anthropic is reportedly targeting a valuation near $2 trillion, with a listing expected the week of November 16 on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT.
Markets expect the offering could raise as much as $100 billion.
The filing also flags concentration risk: about a fifth of first-half revenue came from just two customers.
Options and Market Impact
Anthropic has no public shares yet, so the tradable impact runs through its partners, suppliers and rivals.
Names to watch include Alphabet and Amazon, both major Anthropic backers and cloud partners, and Nvidia, whose chips power the compute buildout behind Anthropic's growth.
Anthropic has committed to enormous compute spending, including up to $120.5 billion on SpaceXAI and Nvidia compute and up to $114.5 billion with Google through 2033, per its filing.
When ANT prices, expect options flow across the AI complex to react to the valuation the market sets. A rich print supports the whole AI spending chain; a weak one would test it.
Bottom Line
Anthropic is growing faster than almost any company its size ever has, and losing money at a pace to match. The Q3 numbers sharpen the only question that matters for the IPO: how much of that growth investors are willing to pay for.
