Apple, $AAPL, could suspend production of the Vision Pro as soon as next month amid weak demand, per the Information

Apple has significantly reduced production of its Vision Pro mixed reality headset since early summer and may halt production of the current version by the end of the year, according to a report by The Information on Wednesday, citing sources involved in component manufacturing.

Initial excitement following the device’s February launch has faded, with sales declining due to the Vision Pro’s steep price and competition from more affordable alternatives like Meta Platforms' Quest. While Apple’s Vision Pro is priced at around $3,500 in the U.S., Meta’s Quest 3 headset costs about $500.

The report notes that employees at three Vision Pro suppliers have produced enough components to assemble between 500,000 and 600,000 units so far. However, one of these employees stated that their factory suspended production of Vision Pro components in May.

Additionally, Apple has reportedly informed its assembler, Luxshare, that production might need to wind down in November, according to an employee at the manufacturing facility, as cited in the report
