Bannon Says RFK Jr. and Pete Hegseth Will Likely Be Impeached If Republicans Lose the House
Bannon's warning
Steve Bannon says that if Republicans lose the House in November, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will likely be impeached.
Bannon, who served as President Trump's chief strategist in 2017, made the prediction in a CBS Sunday Morning interview with Ted Koppel. He said he expects Kennedy impeached, Hegseth impeached, and subpoenas flying every day, with Democrats looking to bog the administration down for its final two years.
On his War Room podcast, Bannon has put it more starkly, saying that losing the House would turn the White House into Fort Apache.
The stakes as he frames them
Bannon framed the midterms as existential for the MAGA movement, saying Republicans cannot afford to lose. His argument for why the outcome is still winnable is turnout: midterm elections are driven by the base and its ability to mobilize low-propensity voters, not by national popular majorities.
He acknowledged that polling may not currently favor Republicans, and election forecasters have suggested Democrats could take control of both chambers in November. There is precedent for the playbook he describes: House Democrats impeached President Trump twice during his first term, and control of the chamber has repeatedly meant investigations and subpoenas aimed at the administration in power.
Bannon's prediction is his assessment of what a Democratic House would do with subpoena and impeachment power, aimed at two of the administration's most polarizing cabinet officials. It is a warning meant to mobilize his own side, not a report of any announced Democratic plan.

Options market and stocks to watch
A change of House control is a headline risk for two big spending pipelines. Defense names like LMT and RTX trade partly on Pentagon stability, and a Defense Secretary under impeachment pressure adds policy noise around contracts and budgets.
On the health side, fights over HHS leadership land on insurers and care providers such as UNH and HUM, where federal policy already drives sharp options flow. Into the midterms, watch SPY volatility pricing around election week and single-name flow in defense and health names as control of the House comes into focus, and follow political market movers on the Unusual Whales news feed.
