Bill Ackman Says Democratic Party Is in the Worst Place in the 250-Year History of the Country, Calls It "Crazy, Radicalized" and "Anti-American," per Fox News
Bill Ackman is done mincing words about the Democratic Party.
Billionaire investor Bill Ackman says the Democratic Party is in the worst place it has ever been in the 250-year history of the country, calling it crazy, radicalized and anti-American, per Fox News.
"I think the Democratic Party is in the worst place it's ever been, in the 250-year history of the country," Ackman said on the Katie Miller Podcast, per Fox News.
"I think it's become like this crazy, radicalized, you know, anti-American thing," he added.
The Party, Not Every Democrat
Ackman drew a line between the party as an institution and the individual lawmakers serving under its banner.
He said there are still some very high-quality Democrats in the Senate and the House, per Fox News.
The problem, in his telling, is a party machine that now punishes independence and rewards compliance.
"And I think the problem with people who've chosen to be a politician for a career, you either have to get with the party in order to continue, or you get primaried," Ackman said, per Fox News.
Schumer in the Crosshairs
Ackman singled out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat he says he once had a good relationship with.
"You know, actually, Senator Schumer, I had a good relationship with him over the years. I thought he was a good man. But in recent years, I felt he's just trying to keep his job," Ackman said, per Fox News.
He called it a low point when politicians compromise on their values to survive, pointing to party support for a Michigan Senate candidate he described as a "quasi-terrorist" supporter, per Fox News.
Ackman also reportedly labeled likely 2028 Democratic presidential contenders Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and California Governor Gavin Newsom as "disasters."
Schumer's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment, per Fox News.
A Former Donor Turned Critic
The remarks carry extra weight because of who is delivering them.
Ackman, the founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, spent years as a Democratic donor before publicly backing President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
His break with the party has since become one of the most visible defections of a major Wall Street figure into the Republican camp.
What It Means for Markets
Ackman's comments land less than a week before the November 3 midterm elections, with control of the Senate hanging on a handful of races.
When one of Wall Street's loudest voices frames the opposition party as radicalized and anti-American, it reinforces the political-risk premium traders are already pricing into election week.
