Comedy Central pulls “South Park” episode that depicted Charlie Kirk after assassination
Comedy Central has pulled a controversial episode of South Park that spoofed Charlie Kirk after the conservative activist was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
The network, owned by Paramount Skydance, quietly replaced the scheduled rerun of Got a Nut—a Season 27 episode in which Eric Cartman parodied Kirk’s mannerisms for a mock debate podcast—with another episode from the same season. Industry outlets confirmed the episode was “temporarily pulled” from cable rotation, though it remains available to stream on Paramount+.
The episode first aired on August 6 and drew attention for lampooning Kirk’s speaking style, ending with Cartman receiving the “Charlie Kirk Award for Young Masterdebaters.” At the time, Kirk laughed it off in a TikTok post, calling the parody “hilarious” and a “badge of honor.” He even changed his profile photo on X to an image of the caricature in his signature black T-shirt.
Following his assassination, however, the satire has become a flashpoint. Supporters of Kirk accused the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, of fueling hostility toward him, with some prominent voices blasting the parody as disrespectful and “mocking his Christian faith.”
