Daily users of marijuana are reshaping the consumer economy by buying more frozen food, and they’re also ordering on delivery apps such as DoorDash and Uber Eats more than average, per Blooberg.

A study of nearly 6,000 cannabis consumers, conducted by Numerator, a data and technology company, revealed that those who consume cannabis with psychoactive THC tend to be younger and have lower incomes. The study, released on Thursday, found that two-thirds of these consumers use cannabis a few times per week, with 38% using it daily. They allocate a larger portion of their grocery budget to snacks and beverages, including sports and energy drinks, beer, frozen sandwiches, spirits, frozen pizza, and frozen appetizers.

Numerator stated in a press release, "Daily THC users show even more pronounced preferences in almost every category studied, with notable differences from regular THC users in candy, herbs & spices, frozen potato snacks, and packaged sweet snacks."

The study also examined the impact of cannabis use on alcohol consumption. While more frequent cannabis users tended to spend less on alcohol than infrequent users, over one-third of THC users reported reducing their alcohol consumption since starting cannabis use. However, cannabis users are still more likely than non-users to purchase alcohol.

The study indicated that fast-food chains and food delivery services may benefit significantly from cannabis users. THC users were more likely to have visited fast-food restaurants or used food delivery apps in the three months leading up to April. DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Little Caesars were among the most frequently used services.

In comparison, users of CBD, the non-psychoactive compound of marijuana marketed for its relaxing qualities, tended to be older, have higher incomes, and use CBD to manage health issues.
