Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks loses composure when pressed about government fraud, waste, and abuse

Jon Stewart discusses with the Deputy  Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks.

She appears to lose composure when pressed about government fraud, waste, and abuse.

Jon Stewart says, "The audit that is in the military does not look if there is efficacy."

Hicks: "That is any audit."

Stewart: "... there is a lot of waste, fraud, and abuse."

Hicks: "... the fact that the DOD has not passed an audit is not an example of waste, fraud, and abuse."

Stewart: "... that is waste. If you can't tell me where a billion dollars went, how is that not waste?"

He is referencing that the Pentagon failed its fifth consecutive annual comprehensive audit, with auditors concluding that its internal systems and processes for tracking weapons and finances were not sufficient, per Reuters.

The audit consisted of 1,600 auditors visiting 220 sites and 750 virtual visits and assessing $3.5 trillion in assets and $3.7 trillion in liabilities.
