Donald Trump arrives in Milwaukee for RNC after assassination attempt heightens security fears

Former President Donald Trump has arrived in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention, just a day after surviving an attempted assassination at a campaign event.

Trump’s airplane touched down Sunday, the day before the four-day event begins, where thousands of Republicans will gather to formally nominate him as their 2024 presidential candidate.

The violent incident at his Saturday campaign rally, which resulted in an injury to his right ear, the death of a spectator, and the injury of another, has cast a somber shadow over the convention. Typically, the event is four days of party pageantry, political speeches, policy platforms, and the presidential nominee’s keynote address.

The attack on Trump has intensified concerns about the safety and security of the event.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump stated on social media that he initially planned to delay his trip by two days due to the assassination attempt. However, he decided, "I cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force changes to scheduling, or anything else."
