Donald Trump has won the US Presidency and is the 47th President of the United States

The Fox News Decision Desk has projected that former President Trump has won a surprising victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, securing him a second term in the White House after an election season marked by extraordinary events, including two assassination attempts. Trump now becomes the first president since Grover Cleveland in 1892 to serve nonconsecutive terms.

Originally elected in 2016, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton with his "Make America Great Again" campaign. Though he lost the 2020 election to President Biden amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, he reclaimed the presidency in 2024, promising to "Make America Great Once Again."

Trump officially launched his campaign on November 15, 2022, just after the midterm elections, basing his platform on the accomplishments of his first term and highlighting issues under the Biden-Harris administration, including inflation and border security. He faced a crowded GOP primary but eventually secured the nomination, with all primary opponents endorsing him as the party’s candidate.

Initially, Trump’s opponent was President Biden, who pursued re-election but faced significant pressure after a challenging debate in June. By July, Biden announced on social media that he would not seek a second term, endorsing Harris as the Democratic nominee in his place.

In July, Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt while speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was struck by a bullet that grazed his ear. Trump credited a chart he was displaying at the time for helping shield him. Then, in September, a second assassination attempt occurred while he was golfing in Florida, where a gunman aimed an assault rifle through a fence. Trump was safely escorted away by Secret Service agents.

Following the second incident, Trump suggested that the “rhetoric” from Biden, Harris, and other Democrats had contributed to the dangerous atmosphere, vowing to “save the country” in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.
