Donald Trump plans to do “major interview” with Elon Musk on Monday
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced he will be interviewed by Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla and SpaceX, on Monday night.
Trump's scheduled conversation with Musk follows Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris's choice of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate and comes after revelations about investigations into a Trump-supporting political action committee that Musk claims to have founded.
“ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
On Monday, the North Carolina Board of Elections informed CNBC that it has launched an investigation into the America PAC, a political action committee that Musk has stated he created. The investigation follows a complaint alleging that the PAC was collecting personal data from website users and failing to assist with voter registration as promised.
The America PAC, which supports Trump’s candidacy, is also under scrutiny by the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office and Michigan’s Secretary of State.
Musk also owns the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter when it was publicly traded. Trump was a frequent Twitter user until the platform banned his account for inciting the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. The ban was lifted after Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion.
Despite this, Trump continues to use Truth Social for his social media communications. Truth Social is owned by Trump Media, a publicly traded company with the former president as its majority shareholder.
