Elon Musk has been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize.

Marius Nilsen, a Norwegian member of parliament from the libertarian Progress Party, nominated Elon Musk for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing Musk's strong advocacy for dialogue, free speech, and the importance of expressing one's views in an increasingly polarized world.

Nilsen also commended Musk for providing Starlink satellite internet connectivity to Ukrainian soldiers in need after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine two years ago.

Nilsen highlighted Musk's various tech companies, which aim to improve societies, expand knowledge of both Earth and space, and enhance global communication and connectivity, as contributing to making the world more connected and secure.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which selects the winner from hundreds of nominations each year, accepts nominations from government officials and individuals in academia.

Nominations are open until March, with the winner announced in October. The news of Musk's nomination was first reported by the Daily Mail.

In addition to X and SpaceX, Musk, the world's wealthiest individual, also leads Tesla, The Boring Company, and Neuralink.

As of Monday, Musk's net worth was estimated at $213 billion by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

In late 2022, Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, aiming to uphold free speech on the platform.

His Starlink terminals were swiftly deployed to assist Ukraine after Russia's invasion in February 2022 and have played a crucial role in Kyiv's battlefield communications.
