Elon Musk has said: I am uncomfortable growing Tesla, $TSLA, to be a leader in AI & robotics without having ~25% voting control

Elon Musk stated on Monday that he would feel uneasy expanding AI/robotics initiatives at Tesla (TSLA.O) unless he maintained a minimum 25% voting control of the company.

The CEO of Tesla, Musk, expressed on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he would prefer having a stockholding "enough to be influential, but not so much that I can't be overturned" at Tesla if he were to lead AI/robotics developments. He suggested that, without such a condition, he would opt to develop products outside the scope of the electric vehicle manufacturer.

As of now, Musk holds approximately 13% of Tesla stock.

In a separate post, he indicated his acceptance of a dual-class voting structure to achieve the 25% voting control goal. However, he mentioned being informed that this approach was deemed unfeasible after the initial public offering in Delaware.

There has been no immediate response from Tesla to a request for comment.

Musk is currently facing a lawsuit related to his compensation package. Tesla shareholder Richard Tornetta filed a lawsuit against Musk and the board in 2018, aiming to demonstrate that Musk leveraged his influence over Tesla's board to secure an unusually large compensation package without the requirement of working full-time at the electric car manufacturer.
