Elon Musk joined Trump's call with Zelensky, and they did not discuss aid

Billionaire Elon Musk was part of President-elect Trump’s recent call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, highlighting Musk's growing influence and close ties to Trump as he readies to assume office.

A source confirmed to NewsNation, a partner of The Hill, that Musk joined the Wednesday conversation between Trump and Zelensky. Trump has engaged with several world leaders since his decisive election victory.

When asked to confirm, Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt responded, “We do not comment on private meetings or conversations.”

Axios initially reported on Musk’s involvement, noting that Musk signaled his continued support for Ukraine via Starlink satellites, which provide essential internet coverage.

Zelensky described the call as “productive” and “positive,” adding, “We cannot yet predict his actions. But we hope for a stronger America.”

Trump’s election raises questions about ongoing U.S. aid to Ukraine amid its struggle against Russian forces. The president-elect and his allies have often critiqued the extent of U.S. support, with Trump arguing that Europe, given its proximity, should shoulder more responsibility in supporting Kyiv.

For months, Trump has claimed he could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict before even taking office in January. However, critics worry that any agreement could come at the cost of ceding Ukrainian land to Russia.
