Elon Musk looks to build a functional town for Tesla staff in Texas under 'Project Amazing'

Per Business Insider

Elon Musk has been known to live in the offices of some of his companies, like Texas or, recently, Twitter. New development revealed that the CEO plans to build a whole town for his staff in Texas.

The project will be called Project Amazing, first reported by the Austin Business Journal, and will be developed in Bastrop County, Austin. This would make the location close to The Boring Company facilities.

The Bastrop County commissioner Mel Hammer shared that the project plans to build an initial 110 homes close to its headquarters. Hammer revealed that the project would partner with Lennar, a Florida-based house builder.

County documents shared some of the street names. Here are the names of some of the subdivision streets.

  • Boring Boulevard
  • Cutterhead Crossing
  • Porpoise Place
  • Waterjet Way

In 2021, Musk said that the Tesla gigafactory could reportedly result in jobs for up to 20,000 people. Another one of the CEO's companies that could be moving to the area is SpaceX, which is expected to build a local factory.

Hamner gave a statement earlier this month, per therealdeal.com, sharing the existence of a local housing affordability crisis. He then shared how housing is being built for workers to be close to the facilities.

Hamner: "That's part of why The Boring Company is building housing for their workers, so they can afford to be living somewhere close to their facilities,"

Later in 2022, Musk was reportedly thinking about creating a second Twitter HQ in Texas. To clarify, the CEO said that there were no plans but that the plan would make sense.

So far, Musk plans to build 110 homes for Tesla employees, with expected hundreds more to follow. It was reported that Lennar is a company that advertises 3D-printed homes on its website, which could potentially be used in developing their homes.
