Elon Musk reinforces promises the Tesla CEO made in 2016, saying that the next car it will make will become almost completely autonomous. However, new details weren't revealed regarding the company's new vehicle.
During Investor Day, which occurred just recently, Tesla revealed its plans to create a new vehicle platform. The company announced that its new platform would be more efficient in terms of manufacturing compared to its previous ones.
The audience, however, wasn't given enough details regarding Tesla's plans for its new platform. The Tesla CEO recently made a brief appearance during a conference at Morgan Stanley, sharing some of the company's plans for the future.
Musk's appearance included his sharing how the company's next-gen platform will be "almost entirely autonomous." Previously, Musk said that the company would produce a new robotaxi EV.
Starting in 2016, Musk has been promising to make all its vehicles capable of "full self-driving." This would be through the use of software updates, which would enable the feature on vehicles from that year.
So far, Tesla vehicles have been given access to the "Full Self-Driving Beta" (FSD Beta) update, which remained a level 2 SEA self-driving. Previously, Musk mentioned adding level 5 SEA self-driving abilities.
In late October of 2022, Tesla reportedly underwent a US criminal investigation over claims regarding self-driving. The US Department of Justice launched an undisclosed investigation a year before that regarding dozens of crashes, with some of them considered fatal.
Tesla reportedly increased its employee count in 2022 by 23% despite its stock decreasing by 65%. Per the company's 10-K filing, it was found that the company increased its growth by 28,565 employees.
The company grew its employee count from 99,290 to 127,855 staff worldwide despite fears of layoffs around the Big Tech industry.
