Elon Musk said China was willing to work on international AI regulations

Elon Musk said that China is willing to work with the US when it came to international AI regulations. The tech billionaire said that the country was "on team humanity."

This came after Musk's visit to China in May, where he gave their senior leadership warnings regarding AI-based digital superintelligence. Per the billionaire, AI could pose a risk to usurp the ruling communist party's power.

Musk: “I’ve made this point in meetings with world leaders, including in China, and we’re actually in strong agreement that there should be AI oversight and regulation,”

The tech billionaire made these remarks on Twitter, and on a Twitter Spaces event, he explained why China was on onboard with AI regulation.

Musk: “I think that resonated because no government wants to find itself unseated by a digital superintelligence, so I think they are taking action on regulation and are concerned about this risk”

In February, Musk reportedly approached AI researchers regarding forming a new research lab in order to develop an alternative to ChatGPT.

In April, Musk created a new artificial intelligence company which he called X AI, which was incorporated in Nevada. This came as the tech billionaire planned an AI startup to rival OpenAI.
