Elon Musk's Grok and its AI has been cleared for use in US government agencies

The White House has continued its support for the administration’s AI initiatives. Today, the General Services Administration (GSA) announced an agreement with xAI to provide access to the company’s Grok AI models at a cost of $0.42 per organization.

The agreement, part of the Trump administration’s OneGov procurement initiative, gives federal agencies access to xAI’s Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast advanced reasoning models. The contract runs for 18 months, making it the longest AI procurement arrangement under OneGov so far. Earlier this summer, xAI outlined its Grok for Government strategy, which includes developing AI products tailored for areas such as national security, science, and healthcare.

Along with model access, xAI will provide engineering support to help agencies integrate the tools and will offer an upgrade path for additional features and higher usage limits. The arrangement aligns with the administration’s AI Action Plan, which emphasizes expanding federal access to advanced AI systems.

xAI joins other AI companies that have reached agreements with the GSA. In August, Anthropic made its Claude model available to three government branches for $1, following similar deals involving Google’s Gemini and OpenAI.
