EU leaders are preparing for Biden to lose
Per CNBC
Ahead of the elections, European Union (EU) officials are already preparing for a change in leadership in the US. This comes after the 27 nations were openly thrilled when Joe Biden won the 2020 US elections.
An EU official gave a statement regarding how the matter concerned EU officials. It was also mentioned how things could change should there be someone else in the White House, specifically mentioning former President Donald Trump.
“The EU is aware that this [cooperation] is not a given and such approach might change when there is someone like [former President Donald] Trump in the White House again. And the EU tries to use this momentum to advance [a] number of files, topics where there are shared interests,”
The official also described how there was already close cooperation and coordination between Biden's administration and the EU. The closeness was said to be from "official levels to the highest levels."
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also gave a statement in March alongside Biden. The statement was given in Washington, DC, describing how the US and the EU worked together.
“The United States and the European Union have taken a strong and united stand against Russia’s illegal, unjustifiable, and unprovoked war against Ukraine... Putin thought that he would divide us, and yet we are more united than ever. We stand together in our unwavering support for Ukraine for as long as it takes,”
In April, the President of France, Macron, said that Europe should stop relying too much on the US Dollar. The President also noted that the EU should better fund its defense industry, develop nuclear and renewable energy, and reduce its dependence on the US Dollar.
In October, Saudi Arabia reportedly lowered its oil prices in Europe but has decided to raise them for the US. During that time, Saudi Aramco raised its prices by $0.20 a barrel for all US grades, while northwest Europe and the Mediterranean saw declines.
