Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is issuing a criminal subpoena against Roblox
Republican Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that his office has issued criminal subpoenas to Roblox Corp (RBLX.N), describing the popular video game platform as a “breeding ground for predators” that exposes children to serious risk.
In a video statement posted on X, Uthmeier accused Roblox of prioritizing profit over child safety, saying the company “enabled our kids to be abused.” The subpoenas, he said, will allow prosecutors to collect evidence and further investigate alleged criminal activity involving suspected predators and victims on the platform.
Roblox has faced persistent scrutiny regarding child safety, concerns that intensified following a report released last year by short seller Hindenburg Research.
In response, the company has invested heavily in enhancing protections for its younger users—tightening messaging restrictions for players under 13, expanding content moderation, and implementing AI-driven systems to detect and prevent inappropriate behavior.
