Former President Joe Biden is having a less lucrative postpresidency than what he’d expected, owing to his advancing age, unpopularity and limited speaking engagements

Former President Joe Biden is having a harder time turning his years in public office into post-presidency income compared with many of his predecessors, according to the Wall Street Journal.

While recent ex-presidents have secured millions through speaking fees, book deals, and other ventures, Biden has brought in less. At 82, after an unpopular term and with some companies wary of potential retaliation from President Donald Trump, his opportunities appear more limited.

Biden has booked some paid appearances, charging between $300,000 and $500,000, but only a few so far. He also secured a $10 million advance for his forthcoming memoir about his presidency — a large sum, though much smaller than the roughly $60 million reported for Barack and Michelle Obama’s memoir deals.
