House Republicans have proposed putting Charlie Kirk on $1 coin

A pair of House Republicans are seeking to have Charlie Kirk memorialized on U.S. currency following his assassination earlier this month.

Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (R-Texas) and Rep. Abe Hamadeh (R-Ariz.) told Fox News Digital they intend to introduce legislation later this week that would instruct the U.S. Treasury to mint 400,000 silver dollar coins bearing Kirk’s likeness.

This marks the latest in a series of bills and resolutions from GOP lawmakers aimed at honoring the conservative activist, who was shot and killed during a campus speaking engagement in Utah earlier this month.

Democrats have faced criticism after dozens of House members voted against a resolution commemorating Kirk’s life and legacy amid a broader debate over racial rhetoric.

Under the proposal, the silver coins—deemed legal tender—would feature Kirk’s image on one side, while the other would be inscribed with the words, “well done, good and faithful servant.” The design would also include his full name, “Charles James Kirk,” the year 2026, along with the nation’s full name and motto.

Final design authority would rest with the Treasury Secretary, in consultation with the sitting president—currently Donald Trump.

Rep. Hamadeh noted that Congress has been authorizing commemorative coins since 1892 to honor historic American figures, and praised Kirk as an “American treasure.”

“He gave of his time, energy, and resources to preserve this country for future generations. Ultimately, he gave his life at the hands of a radical leftist,” Hamadeh said. “We must commemorate his sacrifice, and this coin will carry forward a reminder of his remarkable life to generations yet to come.”
