Iran has warned Israel it could review its nuclear stance if its atomic facilities are threatened
Iran's nuclear doctrine may undergo a reassessment in response to threats from Israel, according to a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander. The commander's remarks come amidst anticipation of an Israeli retaliation for Iran's unprecedented drone and missile strike on April 13.
While Iran maintains that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes, Israel and much of the Western world remain skeptical of this claim.
Ahmad Haghtalab, the Guards commander responsible for nuclear security, stated that "the threats of the Zionist regime against Iran’s nuclear facilities make it possible to revise our nuclear doctrine and deviate from our previous considerations," as reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Haghtalab also emphasized Iran's readiness to retaliate against any Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities, stating, "We know exactly where the enemy’s main nuclear sites are," and that Iran would respond with "powerful missiles for the total destruction of determined targets."
Furthermore, Haghtalab warned that if Israel were to take action against Iran's nuclear centers, Iran would target and strike Israel's nuclear facilities in retaliation, using advanced weaponry.
The ultimate decision regarding Iran's nuclear program lies with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has previously stated that the development and use of nuclear weapons are forbidden in Islam. Despite this, Western pressure has led some Iranian officials to suggest that Iran could pursue nuclear weapons.
In light of these recent developments, the situation between Iran and Israel remains tense, with the potential for further escalation.
