Jensen Huang Declares “AGI Has Arrived” After OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang declared “AGI has arrived” on X, crediting OpenAI’s new GPT-6 Astra model trained on 100,000+ Grace Blackwell GPUs, with another 400K on the way.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang lit up X on Sunday with a four-word market catalyst: “AGI has arrived.” The comment came as a congratulations to Nvidia’s largest customer, OpenAI, following the launch of its new GPT-6 Astra model.
What Huang actually said
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on Sunday that “AGI has arrived” and credited OpenAI’s newly released Astra model with reaching that milestone. In a post on X, Huang wrote: “From ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in 4 years. AGI has arrived. Congratulations @OpenAI team.” He also said Astra was trained on Nvidia chips.
Huang said the model was trained using more than 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell NVLink72 systems, and added that another 400,000 Nvidia GPUs were coming online.
What GPT-6 Astra is
OpenAI unveiled Astra on Thursday and described it as the world’s “most intelligent and aligned model,” saying it can perform “the most demanding professional work with unmatched speed, accuracy, and judgment.”
OpenAI President Greg Brockman has also said Astra could mark the beginning of the AGI era, though there is no universally accepted definition of artificial general intelligence. Sam Altman himself has previously called AGI a poorly defined marketing term, which makes Huang’s declaration all the more notable.

Why traders should read the fine print
Huang has a direct commercial interest in every frontier model release being framed as validation for more GPU spend. NVIDIA’s CEO has an unusually direct commercial interest in every major model release being read as validation that more GPU spending is warranted.
There is also a minor credibility wrinkle: His first post said 300,000. He deleted it and reposted the smaller figure. And the OpenAI–Nvidia relationship is not as tight as headlines suggest, with a previously announced $100B commercial deal reportedly never signed.
The Nvidia numbers backing the narrative
Nvidia reported $96.2 billion in quarterly revenue in August, more than double the figure from a year earlier. Its data center business generated $89 billion in revenue.
If Huang’s 400K-GPU teaser translates into fresh orders, the data center run-rate has more room to expand, and every hyperscaler on the other side of that trade has to keep pace.
Options market and stocks to watch
Watch for continued flow in NVDA as traders position around the AGI narrative and the promised 400K-GPU ramp; any confirmation from hyperscaler capex commentary could keep the bid firm.
Watch MSFT as OpenAI’s primary cloud partner, which stands to benefit if Astra drives enterprise adoption of frontier models.
Watch GOOGL and META for reaction flow, since both are racing frontier models and buy heavily from Nvidia. Also watch AMD, which sells the alternative accelerator every hyperscaler is trying to diversify into.
