Kamala Harris has pledged to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on the wall along the southern border

Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris has committed to prioritizing the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border if she wins the presidential election in November—a stance long championed by her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.

Harris, who previously opposed the border wall, often criticizing it and its supporters, has now faced backlash for what many are calling a "flip-flop."

Axios reported Tuesday that "Harris pledges to allocate hundreds of millions of dollars toward the southern border wall," a project she had once condemned as "un-American" during Trump’s presidency.

This shift is the latest example of Harris moving away from her past progressive positions, such as supporting Medicare for All and banning fracking, which her aides say she no longer endorses.

The shift comes as Trump's campaign pours millions into attacking Harris over immigration and border security.

In a recent campaign ad, Harris highlighted her history of combating violent crime, emphasizing her work as a prosecutor in a border state, where she "took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling weapons and drugs across the border."

The ad, titled "Tougher," also mentions Harris’s support for "the toughest border control bill in decades" during her vice presidency, though critics have argued that the legislation did not go far enough in addressing the ongoing border crisis.

The campaign ad further promises that, if elected, Harris will "hire thousands more border agents" and intensify efforts to "crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking."

"Fixing the border is tough. So is Kamala Harris," the ad concludes.
