Majority of C-suite leaders plan to increase hiring amid generative AI boom
Per CNBC
A recent Upwork study shared how the majority of C-suite leaders plan to hire more workers amid the generative AI boom. This comes despite Goldman Sachs previously reporting how 300 million jobs could be affected worldwide.
Upwork research institute managing director, Kelly Monahan, gave a statement on the recent findings, highlighting how the recent findings were a surprise.
Monahan: “I think that was a bit surprising, given all the doom and gloom we’ve seen in terms of potential job loss and displacement... the C-suite is seeing this as an augmentation play”
Specifically, it was reported that 64% of C-suite leaders would hire more due to the new AI technology. This comes as Monahan explained the difference in capabilities that artificial intelligence can offer.
Monahan: “You can’t really automate the entire job or task because of this tool... You can automate parts of it and or accelerate the efficiency of the workforce as part of it.”
Recently, billionaire Ken Griffin commented on how becoming a programmer has become harder due to generative AI. This comes as he believes technologies like OpenAI's ChatGPT make it easy for anyone to produce code with the right commands.
In April, it was reported that voice actors say they're shocked to find AI replicating their speech and tone.
