Mark Zuckerberg's META in talks to exit Delaware and reincorporate in Texas
One of the world's largest companies may soon find itself relocating. Mark Zuckerberg's META is reportedly in discussions to reincorporate in Texas, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The company is considering moving its legal residency to the southern state.
If this happens, META would be leaving Delaware, a state commonly chosen by major U.S. companies to establish operations. The report indicates that Texas is not the only state being considered. Sources familiar with the situation note that the company has "also looked into reincorporating in other states."
The company has been adjusting to align with the new presidential administration and refining its operations. This includes recent moves like adding UFC President Dana White to its board of directors.
Many of these changes have positively impacted META’s stock price, pushing it closer to the $700 mark. However, the company isn’t slowing down on potential shifts. In fact, it’s reportedly weighing the possibility of moving its legal base to Texas.
Sources with insider knowledge say that META has already spoken with Texas officials about making the move, although a spokesperson from the company confirmed that it has “no plans” to relocate its corporate headquarters out of California.
Zuckerberg wouldn’t be the first major figure to make such a shift. In June 2024, Elon Musk reincorporated Tesla and SpaceX in Texas, leaving Delaware behind. He also moved his medical tech company, Neuralink, to Nevada. If META follows suit, it would further cement Texas’ status as an emerging hub for large corporations.
