McDonald's plans to add a small change to its burgers

Per CNN

McDonald's has announced its plans to add small changes to its burgers. This comes as the company is upgrading its core items to improve sales.

Here are some of the things promised.

  • Softer buns
  • Gooier cheese
  • Additional onions to the patties on the grill
  • More Big Mac sauce

McDonald's USA senior director of culinary innovation Chad Schafer gave a statement regarding the small changes they expect to add to their burgers. There are also three specific burgers that will receive the update.

  • Classic cheeseburger
  • Double cheeseburger
  • Hamburger

Schafer: “We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever,”

Here are the places that have already received the upgrade.

  • Los Angeles
  • Seattle
  • Pheonix
  • Las Vegas

McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski also gave a statement during a January analyst call detailing the company's moves toward the market. The CEO also explained the importance of its core menu items.

Kempczinski: “We are gaining market share in both chicken and beef... In an environment where our customers are looking for the simple and familiar, our core menu items have never been more relevant,”

Towards the end of 2022, McDonald's also had another large move, which was to launch its first fully automated fast food restaurant. This meant that the entire experience didn't require any interaction at all.

In February, McDonald's President gave a statement regarding paying workers $22 an hour. During that time, he noted that it was "costly and job-destroying" while also making $7.4 million in 2022.

He released an open letter arguing how California was destroying growth "through bad policy and bad politics." The letter specifically talked about the AB257 FAST Act bill, which was argued to make things harder for small businesses.
