McDonald’s shuts corporate offices ahead of layoffs
McDonald’s, $MCD, is planning corporate layoffs this week. All in person meetings have been cancelled, and US offices are closed from Monday-Wednesday
McDonald’s announced in January it would be cutting corporate jobs and eliminating certain initiatives, even as it accelerates new store openings. The job cuts would be final by April 3, the fast-food company said at the time. It had about 150,000 employees as of end-2022, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Recently, McDonald's launched its first fully automated fast food restaurant in Texas.
The entire experience does not require interaction with a single individual.
The location is outside For Worth.
McDonalds said the fast food chain explained that the restaurant is geared towards customers who are planning to 'dine at home or on the go,' so there is no seating inside the restaurant and it's 'considerably smaller than a traditional McDonalds.'
It described the new concept as a 'fast and seamless experience for both customers and crew.'
'There's never been a McDonald's restaurant quite like this before,' the press release stated.
