Microsoft, MSFT, has cut hundreds more jobs just weeks after its largest layoff in years
Microsoft (MSFT) has laid off several hundred employees just weeks after carrying out its largest round of job cuts in years, as the tech giant looks to cut costs while maintaining significant investments in artificial intelligence.
According to a Bloomberg report, more than 300 employees were notified on Monday that their positions were being eliminated. The layoffs were disclosed in a notice filed in Washington state.
These new cuts come on top of the 6,000 layoffs Microsoft announced last month.
As of June 2024, Microsoft employed 228,000 people. In January 2023, the company laid off 10,000 workers, including staff involved in its HoloLens augmented reality headset division and other hardware-related projects.
