Musk to Rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI After Trump's "Superintelligence" Order
SpaceXAI itself was created only a few months ago in July, after SpaceX acquired xAI in a $1.25 trillion deal that consolidated the two companies.
Now it is getting a new name. Elon Musk confirmed on X that SpaceXAI will be renamed SpaceXSI, replying "Yes, we will make that change" to a user's suggestion and adding in a separate post: "No more AI. SI, it's better."
The rename follows President Trump's executive order "Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence," signed September 29, 2026. The order directs the entire federal executive branch to use "Super Intelligence" instead of "Artificial Intelligence" in official correspondence, public communications, policy documents, and non-statutory documents. It covers government websites and reports; congressional statutory references stay unchanged until Congress passes conforming amendments.
What the order does
The order gives Trump's science and technology adviser 60 days to propose a federal legal definition of "superintelligence." Until then, SI covers the same technology U.S. law already defines as AI.
Musk has promoted the term for over a decade and contributed to Nick Bostrom's 2014 book "Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies." Trump separately signed a "White House Accord on Superintelligence" with AI leaders at a September 29 meeting Musk attended.
Before being acquired, xAI operated as an independent startup founded by Musk in 2023 and had acquired X Corp., formerly Twitter, in March 2025.
Market context: SpaceX, ticker SPCX and now a listed company, traded around $158.96, up about 7.35%. xAI's Grok was contracted for government work while Musk served as special adviser to Trump in 2025. Musk gave no timeline for the rename; at publication the official SpaceXAI X account still used the old name.

Options market and stocks to watch
A rebrand is cosmetic, but the Musk-AI-government nexus is where the real signal sits: federal AI posture and Grok contracts. Watch these names:
SPCX: SpaceX is the entity being renamed and the core of Musk's fortune. Government AI alignment headlines move it.
TSLA: Tesla trades on the same Musk-risk sentiment and remains the most optioned name tied to him.
NVDA: any federal superintelligence push ultimately means compute, which means Nvidia.
