Elon Musk Says He Will Retaliate Against Democrats Who Investigate Him, per Fox

Elon Musk says he will retaliate against Democrats who investigate him, per Fox, warning he will find out who is pulling the strings after reports that a Democratic Congress would probe his companies, federal contracts, and DOGE role.

Musk draws a line ahead of the midterms

Elon Musk says he will retaliate against Democrats who investigate him, per Fox. The vow followed reports that Democratic lawmakers are planning investigations into his companies and his role in the Trump administration if they win control of one or both chambers of Congress in the November 3 midterms.

"Live by the sword, die by the sword," Musk wrote on X. "Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets."

The warning answered reporting that senior Democrats are mapping out committee investigations into Musk's work leading the Department of Government Efficiency, the federal contracts flowing to SpaceX and Starlink, the restriction of the Starshield satellite network in Ukraine, and conflicts of interest between his government role and his companies.

Billions in federal business sit underneath the fight

House Judiciary Democrats have already cited about $3.3 billion paid to SpaceX and Starlink over the last year as grounds for an ethics review by the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics. Musk helped launch DOGE at the start of President Donald Trump's second term and ran it until his status as a special government employee expired after 130 days in May 2025, a stretch that saw the federal workforce shrink by about 250,000 employees during 2025, according to the Government Accountability Office.

Musk is also one of the Republican Party's largest donors, which is why the exchange cuts both ways politically. Democrats frame the planned probes as overdue oversight of a contractor with unusual access. Musk is framing them as partisan payback, and promising payback of his own if they proceed.

SpaceX is private, so Tesla remains the public proxy for Musk headline risk, and it has a long record of moving on his political fights as much as on deliveries. The November 3 midterms are the catalyst date: a Democratic House or Senate turns these threats into subpoenas aimed at Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink contracts, while a Republican hold keeps the oversight story frozen. Public space and defense names that trade on government contract sentiment, such as Rocket Lab, can catch sympathy moves either way. Watch positioning in Tesla into the election, and follow the story on the Unusual Whales news feed.
