Musk Reclaims Trillionaire Status as SpaceX and Tesla Shares Rally

Technology entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially regained his trillionaire status following a significant market rally driven by surges in both SpaceX and Tesla shares.

Per Forbes, Musk's net worth rose by more than $30 billion in a single trading session, reaching around $1 trillion. SpaceX shares gained over 5% to $167, supported by positive analyst assessments calling the stock undervalued and recent successful Starship orbital tests. The rally also followed robust quarterly vehicle delivery figures from Tesla.

Musk remains the world's richest person, far ahead of secondary contenders, with Jeff Bezos at number two on Forbes.

A round trip through history

Musk first became the world's only trillionaire in June 2026 upon SpaceX's IPO, when his net worth neared $1.11 trillion. A subsequent SpaceX stock collapse cut it by roughly $750 billion by late July, the largest net worth loss in history.

On October 2, Forbes calculated his net worth at $979.7 billion after a $61 billion single-day gain on a 7% SpaceX jump and 5% Tesla gain. Bloomberg's index put him at $929 billion on October 1 and currently shows $977 billion, below Forbes because Bloomberg removed unvested Tesla shares from its valuation.

His wealth is roughly 48.4% SpaceX and 20% Tesla stakes. SpaceX acquired xAI, which owned X, in an all-stock deal completed February 2, 2026, folding those stakes into SpaceX.

Options market and stocks to watch

Musk-wealth headlines are a sentiment read on two of the market's highest-beta mega caps. Watch these names:

SPCX: SpaceX is the engine of Musk's net worth at nearly half his fortune. Analyst upgrades and Starship test results move it directly.

TSLA: Tesla is another fifth of the fortune and the most optioned name on the board. Delivery beats and Musk headlines drive call flow.

NVDA: the AI-infrastructure trade tends to move with the same risk-on impulse that lifts SpaceX and Tesla.

Watch for unusual call flow and GEX shifts around Starship tests and delivery reports. For more tech coverage, see other market news here.
