Nearly a million New Yorkers to reportedly flee NYC as Mamdani becomes mayor
A J.L. Partners poll conducted for the Daily Mail shows that nine percent of New York City residents say they would “definitely” leave the city if Mamdani wins.
Nine percent equates to about 765,000 New Yorkers, based on the city’s population of 8.5 million.
The survey also shows that 2.12 million residents would consider leaving if Mamdani wins the election.
If that many people left, it would represent approximately 25% of New York City’s population.
Polling indicates that Mamdani is currently favored to win the November 4 mayoral election, ahead of opponents Curtis Sliwa and former Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Last week, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers cast early ballots, coinciding with a continued increase in support for Mamdani.
He recently held a large campaign rally with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
