Pentagon announces $2 billion Ukraine air defense package with HAWK air defense systems

While the Pentagon has already given hundreds of billions of dollars to Ukraine, it has yet again announced another $2 billion aid package. This particular package would reportedly give the country "critical air defense" and "ammunition capabilities."
This comes as Ukraine has already received hundreds of billions of dollars from the US under the administration of Joe Biden. The CFR notes that a German research institute, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, has revealed how much the Biden administration and US Congress have directed toward the country.
It was noted that throughout the campaign, it already directed over $75 billion to the country. The sum was reportedly used for humanitarian, financial, and military support.
With the most recent $2 billion, the total amount would go up even futher. Pre Reuters, it was specified that the amount would go toward helping Ukraine purchase Hawk missile launchers as well as "two types of advanced Patriot air defense missiles."
USA News also notes that the package would include HAWK air defence systems and missiles, and more. Here's what the package is expected to include, according to the Defense Department's statement.
- 105mm artillery rounds
- 203mm artillery rounds
- Puma unmanned aerial systems
- laser-guided rocket system munitions
- Training and maintenance support
At the end of December, it was reported that Ukraine's Zelenskyy and the CEO of Blackrock have agreed to coordinate investment in the country. This came shortly after Ukraine President Zelenskyy met with US President Joe Biden.
The company noted that it would provide advisory support to Ukraine, coming with the goal of creating opportunities for public and private investors to participate in the country's economic recovery and reconstruction.
Recently, it was reported that Russia was selling Ukraine's Zelenskyy's Crimea apartment, with proceeds going toward funding the war. The luxury penthouse was voted into nationalization, resulting in it becoming the property of Russia.
