Stability AI boss says most outsourced programmers in India only have 2 years before losing their jobs

Per CNBC

The CEO of Stability AI, Emad Mostaque, went on a call with UBS analysts commenting on the potential state of programmers in India over the next two years. The CEO said taht the boss says most outsourced programmers in India only have 2 years before losing their jobs.

This comes as Mostaque gave a statement regarding the situation, also noting that the technology would affect other jobs as well.

Mostaque: “I think that it affects different types of jobs in different ways... If you’re doing a job in front of a computer, and no one ever sees you, then it’s massively impactful, because these models are like really talented grads.”

The CEO did note that he believed that not everybody would be affected in the same way. He noted that this was due to differing rulings and regulations across the world, like France, which had strict labor laws.

In April, it was reported taht should ChatGPT's technology replace software engineers, India would be impacted the most as it reportedly had the most coders.

Amazon, however, also has plans to scale investments in India with a budget of $12.7 billion for cloud infrastructure by 2030. The investment would specifically be for the company's cloud computing unit.
