The Biden admin is seeking nearly $40 billion It is providing $12 billion for ongoing disaster relief, and is requesting $24 billion for Ukraine

The White House has introduced a supplementary funding proposal amounting to around $40 billion, intended to offer further assistance to Ukraine, address natural disasters, including firefighting expenses, and manage border-related matters.

Within this request, the White House is seeking $12 billion to provide ongoing disaster relief, allocating $60 million for increased pay for firefighters, and earmarking $3.9 billion to tackle border and migration concerns.

This proposal comes as various federal agencies, led by FEMA, are engaged in responding to deadly wildfires in Hawaii, which have tragically claimed numerous lives. President Joe Biden revealed that FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell would be on site in Maui by Friday, underscoring that the threat is not yet completely mitigated.

Additionally, Biden's funding request includes over $24 billion designated for reinforcing Ukraine's defense against Russia's illicit incursion. Over the past 18 months, the U.S. has allocated a substantial $43 billion to augment Kyiv's military capabilities since the onset of the Russian invasion.
