The FBI has closed its DEI office, per FOX
The FBI has reportedly shut down its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs ahead of the incoming Trump administration, according to a new report released Thursday.
Fox News Digital reported that the FBI confirmed the closure of its Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), stating, "In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December 2024."
The FBI’s ODI was established in 2012 during Barack Obama's presidency to promote a workplace environment where all employees could succeed and advance, according to the agency’s website.
President-elect Donald Trump, along with his allies and several cabinet nominees, has been openly critical of the FBI, accusing it of prioritizing DEI initiatives over its core mission and becoming politically biased. Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn has echoed these criticisms, accusing the FBI of focusing excessively on diversity at the expense of addressing critical threats. In an open letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, she highlighted concerns about the agency's priorities, citing incidents like a terrorist attack during a New Year's Eve celebration in New Orleans.
Blackburn referenced a report by retired FBI agents claiming that the agency's operational effectiveness was deteriorating due to a lack of focus on recruiting top talent. She also pointed to examples like the hiring of a Chief Diversity Officer in 2021 and a "Diversity Agent Recruiting Event" held in New Orleans as evidence of the FBI's increased focus on DEI efforts.
