The price of groceries rose 4.7% on the year in June. The annual rate of inflation was 3%.

During June, grocery prices demonstrated stability following a slight uptick in May, which could bring some relief to consumers. Meanwhile, menu prices experienced a 0.4% increase, maintaining a mild upward trajectory over recent months.

Collectively, food prices encountered a 0.1% rise for the month, as per the latest Consumer Price Index released on Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This increase is less substantial compared to the overall 0.2% uptick observed from May to June. However, it's worth noting that food prices have shown greater escalation over the past year compared to the general inflation rate.

Over the 12-month period leading up to June, food prices underwent a 5.7% surge, while overall inflation stood at 3%. During this period, grocery store prices saw a 4.7% growth, whereas menu prices climbed by 7.7%.
