Trump: Cracker Barrel should go back to old logo
President Donald Trump has waded into the Cracker Barrel controversy, urging the restaurant chain to scrap its new branding and return to its traditional logo after a wave of MAGA backlash.
The Tennessee-based company recently replaced its longtime emblem—a man in overalls sitting beside a wooden barrel—with a pared-down, modern design that simply spells out the restaurant’s name. The move drew sharp criticism from Republican lawmakers and conservative commentators, who denounced it as part of a “woke rebrand.”
In an August 26 post on Truth Social, Trump advised, “Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before.” He added that the controversy could work in the company’s favor: “They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Have a major news conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”
The rebrand, which also includes brighter and more modern dining rooms, has fueled widespread criticism, particularly from Trump-aligned politicians and influencers. The White House even weighed in with a post on X featuring a spoof of the new logo, showing Trump as the figure leaning against the barrel alongside the phrase “Go woke, go broke.”
Cracker Barrel responded to the uproar in an August 25 statement, defending its new look while acknowledging the strong reactions. “If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices,” the company said. “You’ve also shown us that we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”
