Trump: "If you notice, every country that has the death penalty has no drug problem"

Republicans have weighed in on President Donald Trump’s heated meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while Democrats have strongly condemned the White House’s handling of the encounter.

The meeting between Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Zelensky erupted into a fiery shouting match in front of the press on Friday, escalating tensions between Washington and Kyiv.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for Zelensky to issue an apology to Trump, while GOP Senator Lindsey Graham went even further, suggesting the Ukrainian leader should step down.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt labeled Zelensky “rude” and “antagonistic,” while House Speaker Mike Johnson accused him of “taking advantage” of U.S. support.

Democrats, along with international allies, rallied to Zelensky’s defense.

Senator Jack Reed, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, blasted the meeting as a “political ambush and a disgraceful failure of American leadership.”

“The president of the United States is a coward and Vladimir Putin’s puppet,” Democratic Representative Seth Moulton, a Marine Corps veteran, said on CNN. “And the vice president is nothing more than a lackey for Donald Trump.”
