Trump Says He Knows More About Inflation, and Everything, Than 'Anybody Anywhere in the World'

The claim, made in Ohio

President Donald Trump told a midterm campaign rally in Vandalia, Ohio that his knowledge of inflation, and of everything else, is unmatched anywhere on Earth.

"I know more about inflation, I know more about everything than anybody in this room. Anybody anywhere in the world," Trump said during the October 3 rally speech, per the rally transcript. He then allowed one possible exception, pointing to a woman in the crowd he described as a housewife with a natural instinct for business, before concluding that she probably did not know more than he did either, to laughter from the audience.

Trump told an Ohio rally: "I know more about inflation, I know more about everything than anybody in this room. Anybody anywhere in the world."

Pretend I am on the ballot

The boast came inside a speech built around making Trump himself the ballot question in a race where he is not a candidate. He asked voters to pretend that he is running, repeated that when he runs, his side wins, and pitched the November 3 midterms as a referendum on him personally.

The inflation line came as he discussed investment flowing into the country and the cost-of-living fight that dominates voter concerns. In the same speech he announced that nearly one million households had been overcharged on Obamacare premiums under the previous administration and that refund checks of $500 were being sent out, including to some 70,000 families in Ohio.

The remarks drew the usual split reaction online, with critics seizing on the sweeping claim and supporters treating it as trademark rally rhetoric. Either way, it underlines the campaign's central bet with three weeks to the midterms: that Trump's personal brand, not any individual candidate, is the product being sold in states like Ohio.

Options market and stocks to watch

A midterm fought as a referendum on Trump is a policy-volatility event, and inflation is the hinge. If voters reward the administration's cost-of-living pitch, the tariff and rate path stays the base case; a backlash reopens it. SPY carries the headline risk into November 3, while TLT prices what the result means for the Fed fight.

The debasement and policy-uncertainty hedge remains GLD, and health insurers in the Obamacare exchanges wear the refund-check storyline directly. Watch polling in the industrial Midwest and any inflation print before election day, and follow the campaign on the Unusual Whales news feed.
