Trump Media launches Truth API, sells faster access to Trump posts

Trump Media and Technology Group flipped the switch on its paid data feed over the weekend, giving Wall Street firms a licensed, real-time pipe into Truth Social posts from the platform's biggest accounts, including the President himself.

DJT is now in the data-licensing business, and the product is squarely aimed at trading desks that live and die by milliseconds.

What Truth API actually is

Trump Media launched its new paid data service on Aug. 1, providing faster access to Truth Social posts from President Donald Trump and other top accounts, with the API designed to give firms a direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform's most market-moving Truths.

The product delivers posts from the 10 most influential accounts to customers at a significantly faster pace than a regular push notification on Truth Social. For high-frequency shops, a speed advantage of just a few milliseconds can translate into hundreds of thousands of dollars on big trades.

The price tag

Trump Media has discussed charging as much as $100,000 a month for the feed, with a discounted plan of $60,000 per month for firms that sign a three-year contract.

The move is the company's first step into data licensing, opening up a new revenue stream. The president also stands to profit directly, owning 114.75 million shares, or roughly 41% of the company.

Why traders care

Trump's posts routinely move markets — on April 9, 2025, the major indexes turned sharply higher after he said in a Truth Social post that he would pause many of his new tariffs for 90 days.

Many trading firms already plug into Trump's posts through Bloomberg, Reuters or other scrapers, but the direct feed could push posts to subscribers seconds or even milliseconds faster than the general public.

The launch comes after Democratic Sens. Adam Schiff of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts urged the SEC to investigate whether the company is violating the law.

Legal experts point to the 2012 Stock Act, which prohibits members of Congress and the executive branch, including the president, from trading stocks based on privileged information, and warn that monetizing early access to policy-adjacent posts could run into problems. TMTG counters that Truth API only offers the fastest way to ingest publicly available Truth Social data, and that critics have invented a new theory of insider trading based on publicly available information.

Options market and stocks to watch

DJT: watch for flow reaction to the new revenue stream narrative and any headline risk from a potential SEC probe.

SPY and QQQ: watch for intraday whipsaws tied to Truth Social tariff or policy posts, especially if paying subscribers front-run the tape.

VIX: watch for spikes on days with heavy presidential posting activity around trade or geopolitics.

Keep an eye on other news for follow-ups on SEC scrutiny and any pricing disclosures from TMTG.
