President Donald Trump will award the National Medal of Science to Elon Musk at the White House on Thursday, honoring the Tesla and SpaceX chief alongside some of the biggest names in American technology.
The honorees
Musk will receive the science medal together with Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and AMD CEO Lisa Su. The National Medal of Science is the highest honor the United States bestows for scientific achievement.
Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation at the same ceremony.
A deepening White House-tech alliance
The ceremony underscores how closely the Trump administration has aligned itself with Silicon Valley since returning to office. Many of Thursday's honorees already sit on the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, and several attended the administration's "Super Intelligence" luncheon with AI industry leaders last week.
