Trump on Fox Business right now: I would not reappoint Jerome Powell again as Fed Chair if elected.

In a televised interview on Thursday, former President Trump stated that if he were to be reelected to the presidency in 2024, he would not select Jerome Powell for another term as the head of the Federal Reserve.

Trump shared with Fox Business Network's Larry Kudlow, a former key economic official in his administration, that he holds the view that Powell's decisions were consistently untimely, regardless of their implications.

The ex-president, who initially nominated Powell to lead the central bank in 2018, developed a negative opinion of Powell later in his first term due to the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates.

After taking office, President Biden nominated Powell for a second four-year tenure as the Fed's chairman. Powell's reappointment was confirmed by the Senate with an 80-19 vote in May of last year. His present term is set to expire in 2026.

Trump expressed his surprise at Powell's reappointment, suggesting it may have been influenced by the knowledge that he was not fond of Powell. He voiced his dissatisfaction with Powell's leadership, mentioning that he is not a supporter of Jay Powell.
