Trump Posts Tom Cotton's Cell Number in Daylight Saving Time Pressure Campaign
President Donald Trump published what appeared to be Sen. Tom Cotton's personal cellphone number on Truth Social on Saturday, urging Arkansas residents to call the Republican senator and demand support for the Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent. "For some reason, Tom is stopping the Bill and, in the Senate, it's very easy to do, it only takes one," Trump wrote, adding, "tell Tom to, GET IT DONE!" The House passed the measure 308 to 117 in July, but it has stalled in a Senate committee. Cotton, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, has long opposed permanent daylight saving time, arguing it would make winter mornings dark and dismal for children. "Arkansans don't want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I'll always put Arkansas first," Cotton responded on X. Reporters who dialed the number found a full voicemail box. It is not the first time Trump has shared a rival's number; in 2015 he read out Sen. Lindsey Graham's cell number at a rally.
