Trump: relationship with Putin didn’t mean anything unfortunately

After addressing the UN General Assembly, President Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines, saying he had once hoped his ties with Vladimir Putin could help bring the war to an end. Trump added that Ukraine could ultimately defeat Russia and retake all of its occupied land.

In his speech, Trump claimed London was “heading towards sharia law,” called climate change a “con,” and sharply criticized Europe over what he labeled the “double-tailed monster of energy and immigration.”

The conflict in Gaza also dominated discussions at the assembly, with world leaders weighing in on the scale of destruction in the Strip.

Meanwhile, the UK, France and several other nations formally recognized a Palestinian state this week — a move Trump denounced as a “reward for Hamas.”
