Trump's Instagram and Facebook accounts are restored

Per CNN

After former US President Donald Trump's Twitter account was restored under the new leadership of Elon Musk, the former US President's accounts on Meta's platforms have been restored. The Trump Instagram and Facebook accounts have once again been activated.

Elon Musk's decision to reinstate Trump was met with scrutiny as some advertisers say they plan on boycotting Twitter if Musk decided to push through with allowing the former US President back on the platform.

The ban on Trump happened after the Jan 6, 2021, incident when the United States Capitol was attacked. In his speech on Ellipse, the former US President told his supporters to match to the Capitol, per NPR.

Trump: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

The former president has a combined 57 million followers on his Facebook and Instagram accounts, and the reactivation of his accounts comes after Trump announced that he would be running for US President again in Nov 2024. Meta's President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, previously gave a statement on how they will deal with the account.

Clegg: "In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation."

According to CBS News, a Trump adviser noted that the Trump campaign could continue on these platforms.

Trump adviser: “It is the most important vehicle for fundraising and for reaching a lot of people in the persuadable audience,”

So far, Trump has not yet posted anything on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. His last post on Facebook asked his followers at the US Capitol to "remain peaceful" and that there should be no violence.
